Background: Aiden’s father was a miner on Muspell, but he made frequent trips to the Bifrost Belt, following various leads, always with the hopes of making his fortune. A jealous, paranoid drunk, he would drag Aiden along with him on these trips to ensure that his wife would remain at home until he returned. Though Aiden loved her mother, the woman did little to protect her from her father’s abuse, and at 16, Aiden ran away vowing never to set foot on Muspell again.

With no idea where to go or what to do, she set off to find her half-brother, Geoffrey. A mercenary, he had always been more of a myth than an actual person to her, and when she finally found him, she couldn’t bring herself to approach him. She lurked around, following him from one job to the next until he finally noticed her. He grabbed her off if the street and demanded to know who she was. Once she convinced him that she was the toddler that he vaguely remembered, he packed her up and shipped her to the best boarding school on Æsir. Geoffrey was determined that she wouldn’t end up like him, or their father.

While Aiden did well in her classes, the discipline of the school chaffed. At her bother’s behest, however, she continued on to University. She ended up with a journalism degree, specializing in photojournalism. After graduating, she landed a job with a decent news service. She did several years of grunt reporting, and has just been sent to Glasir as their correspondent there.

Personality: Aiden is ambitious. She’s determined to be the best photojournalist in the Universal Council systems. She also considers herself to be an artist, and when she isn’t taking newsworthy photos, she’s taking photos of everything else. She doesn’t have much respect for the law, particularly if it’s going to stop her from getting her story, and she’s ambivalent about authority figures. The only person that can really tell her what to do is her brother, but they don’t talk often. She can be touchy, and tries to guard her past very carefully. She doesn’t like it when people look down on her for it, and is hyper sensitive about it. Most of the time, however, she tries to keep things in perspective; she knows just how much worse it can be.

AU Class: Civilian, reporter/photo journalist

Iduna Project Modification: A genetically enhanced memory. Her bosses have suggested that she get her eyes enhanced, but she contends that it would interfere with her artistic vision, that she would lose something important, something inherently human. She refuses to let anyone touch her eyes.
